Mary Connolly

Owner/Head Trainer

I’ve been passionate about animal training and stewardship for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Maine, I spent most of my time outdoors, learning about nature and caring for dogs and horses.

In 2020, I decided to get a Cane Corso, and that’s when everything changed.

What began as a desire to better support my own dog quickly grew into a deep passion for dog training. Experiencing training first as a client gave me invaluable perspective and ultimately inspired me to pursue it professionally. I went on to seek mentorship and employment with reputable trainers in my area, gaining years of hands-on experience that helped shape the trainer I am today. Along the way, I’ve completed numerous classes, seminars, and workshops to continue expanding my knowledge and skill set.

In 2024, I established Monarch K9 Dog Training, named in honor of my dad, who instilled in me his love and knowledge of nature. Each year, we shared a tradition of providing a safe enclosure for monarch caterpillars to complete their life cycle before releasing them back into the world as butterflies. It was a fascinating process and one I see as a powerful metaphor for the growth and transformation we experience, both in ourselves and in our dogs.

When I’m not working with dogs professionally, I’m usually outside with my own, hiking, running cani-cross, training for PSA, or spending time with loved ones. I’ve also developed a newfound love for houseplants and keeping various species of spiders. Alongside this, I continue exploring new dog-related hobbies and disciplines, always looking for ways to broaden my experience and deepen my understanding. These moments, both challenging and quiet, are what ground me and fuel my passion for both the life and career I’ve built with dogs.

Let’s make a plan and start your training journey!
